A number of ETFi-staff attended the ITB in Berlin last week (www.itb-berlin.de). The ITB is the annual platform for the travel and tourism industry to display their products and destinations and to be updated about new developments and trends in all kind of workshops.

A number of ETFi-staff attended the ITB in Berlin last week (www.itb-berlin.de). The ITB is the annual platform for the travel and tourism industry to display their products and destinations and to be updated about new developments and trends in all kind of workshops.

In the field of technology a lot may be expected to happen in the coming years. For many innovations it will be a challenge to find useful applications in the tourism industry as this needs boundary-crossing thinking. An example is combination of the google-glasses with google translate that for example enables a tourist in Korea to read a Korean menu.   Google Glass

On behalf of ETFI a workshop about the Waddendijk-project was conducted by Jeroen Oskam. In this project it is researched what possibilities there are to support the coastal areas in the Northern part of the Netherlands by stimulating culture tourism. A line of research is to seduce day-visitors to stay overnight.
